Feminism Friday – domestic goddess series part 3 »

little quick link

June 9, 2007 by thinking girl

I’ve had a rather busy week, so haven’t caught up on comments and/or posting and/or my feed reader. But I did get this gem in my inbox today, so wanted to pass it along in case you all missed it. And, please do take note of the asswipe in the comment section who can’t help but pull out the big guns with a “what about the menz?” commentary. I’m so sick to death of feminist arguments being purposely misread and strawmanned. Complete asshattery.

thanks for the mention, and the support on the comment thread! yeah, i was a little blown away by the way the conversation devolved – i mean, i’ve seen it happen on the big blogs all the time, but on mine? little ‘ol me? guess it can happen anywhere :)

    thanks again for reading….

You’re most welcome, it’s always my pleasure to throw out some support for a well-written, succinct piece.

You’re right, that kind of derailing can and does happen anywhere. It happens here all the time – or, at least, it used to. Now I don’t even bother to publish most of the misogynistic tripe that asshats try to leave. Impinging on freedom of speech? Not here – that’s something owed by a government, not a private blog. Thank god for moderation.

Very well-written piece, kate d. Very good and necessary choice of topic as well.

“Mark” was doing anything and everything to pick a hell of a fight. Unfortunately, his behavior is quite typical of men hostile to feminism. My only observation for kate d. was that she allowed him to go on too long; that’s why crap like this needs to be nipped in the bud. *HOWEVER,* when it *gets* nipped in the bud, then the asshats whine about how feminists are hostile to freedom of speech–NEVER UNDERSTANDING that their own crap is more hostile to freedom of speech than merely getting thrown off a thread or blog, so I can see the double bind you were in, kate d. My condolences.

And did you see how he just automatically labeled women as more “emotional” than men are? He bloody well knew he was stirring up a shit storm. Delibrately. Just about ALL of his posting was geared towards soliciting the most hostile responses that he could get. Is this MARTYRDOM or what?? It was almost like he was spoiling to get thrown off, then he could go tell his misogynist buddies about how evil feminists are. This is why obnoxious sexist posters must be thrown off *immediately*. Punish bad behavior, reward good behavior.
